Apple iPad 2 Released ! Steve Jobs is back

Finally, the storm has settled, somewhat. We’ve been working and typing away like crazy to bring you the latest from the iPad 2 launch event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, where Apple CEO Steve Jobs took the stage. Now, as things have settled down a bit, here is an in-depth analysis of what the iPad 2 really is and what features it brings, along with other related information regarding pricing and availability. Read on down below, for pure iPad 2 pleasure.

The iPad 2 has a dual-core A5 chip
We’ve seen this particular thing being rumoured for quite sometime now, however now we know that the iPad 2 has a dual-core A5 processor which obviously makes it twice as faster than its predecessor, while it also touts up to 9X better graphics

The iPad 2 is thinner and lighter
It was also previously said that the iPad 2 was going to be thinner and considerably lighter than its predecessor. Well that was true, as Steve Jobs told the audience that the iPad 2 is around 33% thinner than the original iPad, which its width is only 8.8mm from the previous 13.4mm, making it even slimmer than the iPhone 4.

iPad 2 comes in white and black colours
The prospect of having an iPad 2 in white, is attractive for a certain niche of users as it is. The best part about this, is that the white iPad 2 shall be shipping from the very same day when shipping of the iPad 2 starts, meaning that there will be no delay in the delivery of the white iPad 2.

Two cameras: Front-facing enables FaceTime, back-facing records 720p HD video
The original iPad did not have video conferencing capability but there was another way to enable FaceTime on your iPad, however since the iPad does not have a camera, the other person wouldn’t be able to see you and would infact see a black screen. So bid farewell to the black screens, because Apple has launched FaceTime on iPad, through its front-facing camera. The back camera on the iPad 2 can record 720p HD video.
iPad 2 runs iOS 4.3
Yes, the iPad 2 will be running iOS 4.3, which will be available to download for your iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 3G & 4G on March 11.

They’ve built a Gyroscope in the iPad 2
Personally, this is one thing that Apple has done, which has left me awestruck. Considering the size of the iPad, and for it to boast Gyro, which is basically aware of the movements of the device in space, is something quite huge.

With the built-in accelerometer, you can rotate iPad to portrait or landscape, or even upside down, and whatever you’re watching, reading, or seeing adjusts to fit the display. And now the accelerometer, three-axis gyroscope, and compass all work together. They sense which direction iPad is heading and how it’s moving. So games, maps, and other apps know your every twist, turn, tilt, and 360. It’s an epic win for gaming. And it’s just the beginning of better-than-ever iPad apps.
iPad 2 retains the same screen and same battery timing of the original iPad

iPad is one big, beautiful display — 9.7 inches of high-resolution photos, movies, web pages, books, and more. LED backlighting makes everything you see remarkably crisp, vivid, and bright. Even in places with low light, like an airplane. And there’s no wrong way to hold iPad. It’s designed to show off everything in portrait and landscape, so with every turn (even upside down), the display adjusts to fit. Because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178° viewing angle. Hold it up to someone across the room, or share it with someone sitting next to you, and everyone gets a brilliant view.
Even with the new thinner and lighter design, iPad has the same amazing 10-hour battery life. That’s enough juice for one flight across the ocean, or one movie-watching all-nighter, or a week’s commute across town. The power-efficient A5 chip and iOS keep battery life from fading away, so you can get carried away.

iPad 2 3G will be available on both AT&T & Verizon

Every iPad 2 has built-in advanced 802.11n wireless technology. The iPad will automatically find available network connections and you can start using them within seconds by just a few taps. iPad 2 is also available with 3G connectivity on either AT&T or Verizon Wireless networks.

iPad 2 Will Start Shipping From March 11 (US Only)
iPad 2 shipments in the United States start from March 11 while shipments for 26 other countries will start from 25th of March. Please keep in mind that Apple has not yet started pre-orders for the iPad 2.
